San Joaquin Labor Coalition Endorses Candidates

June 2014 Election

Stockton, CA, April 2, 2014– The San Joaquin Labor Coalition has completed all of its endorsements for the June 2014 Primary Election. The San Joaquin Labor Coalition, formed in May 2013, consists of local unions and employee organizations who have joined together to highlight that working people care about and are involved in our community. While the Coalition has participated in many community service projects, this is the first time the Coalition has made endorsements for political races.

Matthew Baker, President of the San Joaquin Labor Coalition and member of Stockton Professional Firefighters Local 456 said, “We believe these candidates will best represent the working people of San Joaquin County and Stockton. We have endorsed Pat Withrow for Sheriff, Tori Verber Salazar for District Attorney, Mike Mulvihill for Superior Court Judge, Paul Canepa for Board of Supervisor District 2 and Gene Acevedo for Stockton City Council, District 3.”

Candidates for other offices were also interviewed and no endorsements were made in those. Following the June 2 Primary Election the Coalition may choose to consider additional endorsements.

Our member organizations include unions representing County workers, Head Start Workers, City of Stockton workers, Building and Construction trade workers, workers at the Port of Stockton and Retirees from these organizations.
